The difference between PHYSICAL and PSYCHOLOGICAL dependence

PHYSICAL dependence means the drug chances your body's chemistry in some way so you need more and more of it to achieve the same result, and if you don't take it, you experience symptoms of withdrawal. Over-the-counter drugs don't have that type of impact but you can become psychologically dependent. You can start to believe you need the medication to find relief and when you don't feel better, you take even more. Medication-overuse is an example. Even though the drugs often ease the pain, some prep for the next attack by taking more. This is often the case with over-the-counter pain killers.
