Parents won't take child to doctor for possible depression or anxiety

Question was HOW DO YOU CONVINCE YOUR PARENTS TO BRING YOU TO A PROFESSIONAL WHEN THEY ALWAYS SAY TO "GET OVER IT"? Answered by Lester XXXXXX on Quora "Have a fair amount of experience dealing with my own. Ask to go to your doctor. Unless you're very young, you should be able to see the doctor privately. Make up a complaint if you have to. Talk to the doctor about your anxiety and depression. Be open and honest. Explain that your parents don't take you seriously about this. You should in any case, have a thorough physical exam, including blood work, to rule out physiological causes for what you may be experiencing. Hopefully your doctor can advocate for you to get more help if you need it. Another option may be a school nurse or counselor. Although some areas don't have much in the way of resources for this. Many school systems are short-staffed in some areas. Another avenue is talking to a close and trustworthy relative or family acquaintance who may be able to speak to your parents on your behalf. Depending on your age and where you live your option will vary. If you feel you're a danger to yourself, you can contact suicide hotlines or go to the emergency room."
