SLEEP DEPRIVATION
A recent study in the sleep-research community has them alarmed because it suggests that chronic sleep deprivation kills brain cells. Sleep-deprived mice were researched at the University of Pennsylvania. It detected measurable damage to and loss of, neurons responsible for alertness and optimal brain function. James Maas, an internationally renowned sleep educator says, "Basically, what we're looking at is similar to the effect of doing drugs. Sleep deprivation fries the brain". Start making sleep a priority. Even though some of your brain cells may have already experienced damaged, you can work on keeping what you have. Sleep deserves as much attention as nutrition and exercise. Lack of sleep has been linked to heart disease, cancer and diabetes. It has even been linked to skin problems and allergies. Start thinking in terms of efficiency and stop thinking about sleep in terms of hours.
