Going to Far?

Has the University of New Hampshire taken being politically correct to far?  They have create a guide to a "bias-free language" which suggests replacing poor with "person who lacks advantages that others have", overweight with "people of size", seniors with "people of advanced age" and to avoid using "America" as it may be insensitive to people from South America.  The university president found the guide offensive.
