10 Ways Your Home Could Be Toxic 1-5

(1)   AIR FILTERS- People spend 80% of their time inside- where air may be even more polluted than outdoors.  Newer homes are designed to be energy-efficient.  Meaning there is not much ventilation, and irritants like dust mites, mold, and pet dander get sealed inside. This aggravates allergies and asthma.  SUGGESTED: MERV 11 or 12 Disposable high energy filter for furnish and air conditioning system.  Change filters every 3 months.  (2)  CARPETING-Wall-to-wall traps dust, pollen, and mold.  After cleaning a spilled drink, it may not dry completely and could be a breeding ground for mold.  SUGGESTED:  Tiles  The individual squares can be removed.  (3)  TAP WATER-Lead, chlorine, and pesticides can contaminate the stuff coming out of sink.  SUGGESTED: Have water tested to see if you need water filters.  (4) HOUSEHOLD CLEANERS-Many have artificial fragrances that can irritate lungs and worsen allergies and asthma.  SUGGESTED: Natural multi-purpose cleansers.  Apple cider vinegar distilled with water in a spray bottle instead of glass cleaner.  Lemon can remove hard water stains.  Baking soda is good for scrubbing pots.  (5) LAUNDRY-It has a big impact on our health and the world.  SUGGESTED: Instead of fabric softener sheets, air-dry.
